Essays On Dionne Brand's Works
By Titilola Aiyegbusi Mark A. McCutcheon
This instalment of Guernica’s Essential Writers series spotlights one of Canada’s most internationally acclaimed authors, the poet Dionne Brand, with major scholarly essays on her work, an exhaustive bibliography, and a previously unpublished essay by Brand herself. Brand is an author whose astonishing work Canada needs to uplift and celebrate more volubly. Propagules joins and builds this upliftment of one of Canada’s most talented and incisive writers. The book includes essays on Brand's work by prominent Canadian and international scholars, especially women and Black scholars (such as Katherine McKittrick, Franca Bernabei, and Leslie Sanders); it also includes a personal essay (or "creative nonfiction" piece) by author Erin Soros and an engaging interview with Brand. This edited collection also provides readers and scholars with a comprehensive, up to date bibliography of any and all work by and about Brand. Propaguyles provides an indispensable resource for fans and students of Brand's writing.
