Every Night of Our Lives
Every Night of Our Lives
By Rocco De Giacomo
The twin themes of domestic adventure and dreams work together in Every Night of Our Lives to create a tactile and brightly-coloured odyssey of the mundane. At times harrowing and sombre and at other times humorous and bizarre, Every Night provides a meaningful account of middle-aged life in the new millennium. It begins with an atmosphere of lingering restlessness, but gradually turns towards reflections of a first time father settling down in a era of pop culture and high speed internet, as he comes to terms with his own mortality, personal flaws and limitations.

Though the poet burns with intensity he is still at the beginning of discovery like a butterfly emerging from a chrysalis, new; he is fearful of what lies ahead. The portrayal is an indication of the crossroads he is at.
